Electrolysis
 |
Electrolysis is a safe and effective treatment for broken veins, skin tags, millia, warts, Seborrhoeic Keratosis. It is a tried and tested method of hair removal that involves passing a tiny, hair like, needle into the hair follicle which cauterises the blood flow to the hair and enables it to be removed. Several treatments are required on each hair and regular appointments are recommended.
Biodepyl by Thalgo is applied after each electrolysis treatment and is recommended for home care. It is proven to help to reduce hair thickness and dramatically slow down re-growth by up to 30%.
You will need to use it for up to 7 days after your electrolysis treatment, whilst the hair follicle is empty, in order to be most effective.

Treatment of Seborrhoeic Keratosis, Millia and Skin Tags
Traditionally skin lumps and bumps are removed by surgical incision, usually under local anaesthetic. Unfortunately this leaves a noticeable scar and requires several weeks of healing.
The most successful alternative approach to remove them "Advanced Electrolysis".
Removal of seborrhoeic keratoses, millia and skin tags using advanced advanced electrolysis involves cauterising the skin using short wave diathermy. It only takes a few minutes to treat several bumps. This is an electrical technique that is a little uncomfortable, but does not need a local anaesthetic. Afterwards a superficial scab will form and after a few days (usually five) the scab will come off by itself leaving healthy pink skin underneath, occasionally a second treatment is required if the bump is not fully removed.
Once the bumps have been removed will not come back again. However the factors that affected the skin to make it grow in the first place are still there, and so it is possible to get more in the same area. minsThese of course can be removed as and when they appear.
Broken Veins and Capillaries
The face has an extensive network of veins and small blood vessels called capillaries. Ageing, trauma, sun exposure and other factors can cause these vessels to become more prominent or to ‘break’. The breaks, also called telangiectasias, commonly appear as spider veins or as red streaks or blotches. Sometimes broken capillaries can cause a diffused redness in the skin, called erythema, a source of social embarrassment for many people. Rosacea is a common skin condition that is characterised by diffused erythema.
Advanced Electrolysis is ideal for cauterising the blood flow through the visible veins making them disappear. Often more than one treatment is required and in some cases Laser treatment will be recommended which works in a similar way but is able to treat more veins in any one treatment and is ideal for the larger ones that appear on the face and sometimes on the legs.
Large patterns of leg veins are best treated with Sclerotherapy. Please see our DIVA page for more information.
High colour on the face is greatly helped with the use of the correct skincare. Book a consultation with one of our experts to find out which treatment and homecare range is best suited to your needs.
